us vs. them

April 3, 2008 – 8:28 pm

The first surprise for most people is the large proportion of Americans who don’t pay any income tax at all. The number of people who actually get money back – not a refund, but a net payment – through the income tax system, is huge. In 2005 (the most recent year for which data is available), the bottom 40% of Americans by income had, in the aggregate, an effective tax rate that’s negative: their households received more money through the income tax system, largely from the earned income tax credit, than they paid.

How do you like them apples?  Take a look at the rest of the article…  so when will we have a fair tax system?

pumpkins everywhere

October 21, 2007 – 6:22 am

Last night we went to the Keene Pumpkin Festival. Here’s one of the pumpkins that was placed near Cameron’s.

Take a look at the rest of the pictures …including Cameron’s. The only complaint was that the hate-America crowd had their political propaganda everywhere. Had to assume that in a liberal New England college town.

‘08 online quiz

October 14, 2007 – 6:51 am

Not a big online quiz taking person… but here’s my results of the SelectSmart 2008 Presidential candidate selector quiz:

Not sure how accurate it can be when Chuck Hagel is that high on my ranking since he’s part of the “let’s put our tail between our legs and run home” crowd. However, Mitt’s on top so that says something… still flip-flopping like John Kerry (or Mitt) between Mitt and Rudy. I guess I’ll vote for anyone that can beat the wicked witch. As far as winning in ’08, things should start looking better soon if the liberals continue talking about taxes like Mondale and Dukakis.

You are a Free Marketeer, also known as a fiscal conservative. You believe in free-market capitalism, tax cuts, and protecting your hard-earned cash from pick-pocketing liberal socialists.

Everett Lake

July 1, 2007 – 4:32 pm

Kayaked Everett Lake in Weare, NH today. Here’s one of the photos.

Some info on Everett Lake:

In response to the disaster and seasonal flooding, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers built the 2,000-foot long Everett Dam, as part of the Hopkinton-Everett Flood Control Project, which had been authorized by Congress to prevent a recurrence of the devastating floods. The overall project was completed in 1963 at a total cost of $21,400,000. The dam required the village of East Weare to be permanently abandoned, and formed Everett Lake.

Weare is also home to the infamous Associate Justice David Souter. Too bad it’s not the home of Lost Liberty Hotel.
